Calculate coupon savings, final price, tax and shipping
Use this coupon discount calculator to estimate the real checkout total after a percentage-off or fixed-amount promo code. It accounts for minimum purchase requirements, maximum discount caps, delivery charges and estimated tax—details that a basic percent-off calculator often leaves out.
For example, a 20% coupon on a $200 cart would normally save $40. If the merchant sets a $30 maximum discount, the actual saving is $30. If the cart does not meet the stated minimum spend, the calculator marks the coupon ineligible instead of deducting it.
How the final checkout price is calculated
- 1. Check the cart against minimum spend.
- 2. Calculate percentage or fixed coupon value.
- 3. Apply the maximum saving cap when provided.
- 4. Subtract eligible savings from the subtotal.
- 5. Add shipping and estimated sales tax.
Compare coupon offers accurately
A larger percentage is not always the best deal. Compare percentage coupons with fixed discounts, free-shipping offers and minimum-spend thresholds. Adding products only to qualify for a coupon can increase total spending, so compare the final payable amount rather than the advertised headline.
Percentage coupon formula
Coupon saving = cart subtotal × coupon percentage ÷ 100
Eligible saving = lower of calculated saving or maximum cap
Final total = discounted subtotal + shipping + estimated tax
Actual merchant calculations may treat shipping, tax, product exclusions and rounding differently. Use the result as an estimate and confirm the amount shown by the retailer before payment.
